One of my Little Kookies just goes crazy over them & they actually ARE educational! Uh Oh, It's Lice!

Mrs. Kooky recently found herself in a situation that may be familiar to many of you. Her 6 year old daughter was sent home from school with lice. Tragedy! Having never dealt with lice before, I had no idea what I was looking for or even how to begin delousing my daughter's very ample head of long hair! I had heard of a local "Lice Fairy" who could delouse my daughter but a friend (who will remain unnamed but you know who are - I'll have something special up my sleeve for you later) suggested that I try to delouse my daughter's locks myself before dumping a whole load of cash on the "Lice Fairy". So, I sat down to begin the FOUR hour process of delousing my daughter's head. After a while, I got used to the process and actually enjoyed the quality time with my daughter. I became frustrated, however, when the next day, the school nurse would not allow my daughter back in to school because she still had some nits in her head (I was thinking that the nurse was a pure nit wit or witch, whatever is more appropriate)!

Feeling frustrated, I began to research treatment for lice and found that the shampoo I had used in my daughter's head the day prior to kill the lice was a neurotoxin (http://www.headlice.org/ - refer to Jesse's Project). PANIC set in! Had I just poisoned my daughter leading her to a lifelong battle with some unnamed disease?!! Thank God I had not followed my gut and washed her hair twice with the shampoo in effort to kill all those unsavory bugs!

I was at my wits end. Apparently, I had not exterminated properly. I needed a fumigation expert! So, I got on the horn to the Nit Fairy begging for help. Nit Fairy to the rescue! It turns out I had a done a pretty good job delousing but there were still some critters left. The Nit Fairy took care those remaining pesky little creatures.

Long story short, locate a Nit Fairy (www.nitfairy.com) the next time you need a delousing! It was money well spent! Not only did the Nit Fairy know exactly what to look for, she used organic products to delouse, not NEUROTOXINS (as I later found out, the organic delousing products are not the easiest to find around town). And, she was glad to share some nit/lice preventing tips which I just have to pass along to my friends and followers. Here are some Nit Fairy tips: 1) Wash your kids' hair with Suave Rosemary Mint Shampoo & Conditioner (those little creatures don't like MINT) which can found at your local drug or grocery store, 2) Even if your child doesn't have lice, comb your child's hair with a lice comb every day, 3) Use Nit Free, an organic natural mint oil spray daily to help prevent lice (available at Kooky Kidz or on the Internet), and 4) if your child does get lice, make sure to use an organic product to delouse!

I hope that this blog entry has helped someone, as I had no idea where even to start when my daughter contracted lice! Happy delousing!

Digitsavers for Easter!

Kooky Kidz has recently discovered a great new product called Digitsavers. The digitsaver™ pinch guard was developed from a need to find a creative, innovative way to address some of life’s everyday challenges. As a mother of two young children, Jeri Keating, envisioned andcreated a solution to some of her everyday challenges and called it the “digitsaver”. The "digitsaver" pinch guard addresses more issues than that of “pinched fingers”. It allows life to function just a bit more smoothly...and, as most parents of young children know, that can make all the difference in the world.

Some unique features of the Digitsaver are: 1) It fits on most door knobs and lever handles; 2) Its portable...take it with you where-ever you go; 3) Its easy to install, no tools required, just attach to any doorknob; 4) It does not cause damage to hinges or door frames like other products on the market; 5) It blocks door open to prevent young children (or pets) from accidentally locking themselves in a room; 6) It prevents door from blowing shut due to an open window or forced air heater.
